We were up bright and early on a lovely Friday morning, September 6, 2013. Lauren Kennard was marrying her love, Ryan Barker at
The RiverRoom on our waterfront deck was 10:00am. This may have been one of the coolest entrances we've had. The bridal party was staying at Hotel Tarrymore (just two blocks away). So they decided to walk to the deck ceremony from the Tarrymore and they had a favorite Zac Brown song playing. This was one way to stop traffic - put a gorgeous woman in a gorgeous dress and it seems like the whole world stops for a second! The ceremony was set up beautifully, with a white chuppa arbor from
Etc. Party Rentals in the corner of the deck. Guests admired the lovely couple overlooking the Cape Fear River. The ceremony was officiated by a dear friend, Omar.

After the ceremony, the bride and groom went off with their photographer, Ray Baca of
Baca Photography, to take some formal shoots along the Riverwalk in historic downtown Wilmington. The rest of the guests enjoyed a brunch prepared by
Middle of the Island Catering! They served eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes and more! It went perfectly with a mimosa (or two). The Bride and Groom brought in their own alcohol and choose to serve mimosas and beer, along with tea and water from Middle of the Island.
Wilmington Wine provided two cases of their infamous Wycliff champagne!

Lauren and Ryan returned to The RiverRoom for introductions (done by Eric with
DJ Professionals & Video). They then had their first dance to "Hey Pretty Girl" by Kip Moore. Lauren's adorable daughter joined the dance and there was not a single dry tear in the house! So precious!

After we all ate, the best man gave a toast to the Bride and Groom that none of us saw coming. He ended it by doing something he's always done....lick Ryan's lil' bald spot. It got a little weird for a second...then it was onto dessert! :) The cupcakes were brought from Raleigh from Lauren's friend and cake designer, Alison with
Iced Cupcakes. They served blue velvet, chocolate and vanilla! So tasty!

The RiverRoom was filled with royal blue and white. The decor was simple, yet beautiful. We placed a white hydrangea stem into a mason jar covered in twine and lace and put three votive candles around each and we were done! The amazing thing about The RiverRoom is that you can go very simple with your decorations and the room still looks charming and inviting.
We had about 60 guests at Lauren and Ryan's big day. The wedding reception wrapped up by 2:00pm so a lot of guests traveled back home for the weekend or had an excuse to spend the weekend at the beach. We had a lovely time getting to know Lauren and Ryan and their sweet families. We wish you both all the best! Congratulations from all of us here at The RiverRoom!
