We love a well-executed, themed wedding and that is exactly what we had for Melissa and Ryan Farrell's wedding day in downtown Wilmington at
The RiverRoom. Ryan and Melissa live on the west coast while Ryan is stationed there with the US Navy but they still love the east coast beaches of North Carolina. They chose to have the wedding ceremony at the enchanting
Airlie Gardens and the reception was downtown at The RiverRoom! Melissa of
Knot Too Shabby Events was hired to coordinate the day of and make sure that everything ran smoothly, with or without the rain we might have had towards the end of the ceremony.
Kathy Bobbitt, a dear family friend, was the officiant and finished the ceremony right as it started to drizzle.
VIP Limo was waiting to take all of the guests downtown. There was a 2 hour break in between the ceremony and reception so Melissa & Ryan gave their guests a scavenger hunt with some of their favorite things to do in Wilmington.
The reception started back up at 5:00pm at The RiverRoom!
DJ Professionals & Video had good tunes playing,
The Audio Visual People hung the elegant Edison lights and
Etc. Party Rentals provided linens, as well as extra tables and chairs. Each table was named a different city that the couple has traveled to together! We had tables from Peru to Spain and everything in between! I loved the tablescape on each guest table too. We used old National Geographic with vintage cameras and a mason jar floral arrangement from
Leaf & Petal Designs. Guests drank out of mason jars with a strip of chalk paint where they could write their name!
There were so many amazing, travel-inspired components of this wedding! First, the seating chart was displayed on a world map and said "where in the world are you seating?" Then, guests were guided to a table named by some of their favorite places. For the guest book, guests signed vintage post cards and left it in a cute suitcase for the couple to read later. They also created a DIY photo booth near the dance floor with lots of fun props for silly pictures later!
Imaginary Cakes made a beautiful cake topper and lots of mini desserts!
Meet The Burks Photography was hired to capture all of the special moments throughout the big day! Thanks for sharing your photos too!

Coastal Catering served a true low country boil with everything from crab legs, oysters, sausage, corn on the cob and more! After dinner, we cut the cake, had some pretty epic toasts and then kicked off the dance party! One of my favorite moments was when Melissa & Ryan did the Hora, a Jewish tradition, also known as the "chair dance"! Good thing Melissa and Ryan have slim builds!
The night came to a close around 10:00pm! We had such a great evening celebrating with these folks! Thank you so much for having your wedding at The RiverRoom! It truly was our pleasure! We wish you all the best in love and happiness, where ever you may be in the world!
