Kristen and Ed's Down-to-Earth Wedding Day

Kristen and Ed are by far one of the most down-to-earth couples we have had the pleasure of getting to know. We met Kristen and Ed five months ago at our wedding social and have been looking forward to their big day ever since! Kristen and Ed tied the knot inside The RiverRoom this afternoon, surrounded by 100 of their closest friends and family! A friend of the family created a gorgeous wedding arch made out of tree branches. They also painted some of the branches gold to add a sparkling touch. The ceremony was officiated by a a family friend too.

Pronounced husband and wife!
We went right into the wedding reception after the short 15 minute ceremony. We added in the bridal party table where the arch was and we were ready for dinner. Middle of the Island served up a delicious buffet with southern favorites like BBQ pork, marinated chicken, mac n'cheese, collard greens and more!

As the guest dined, we all enjoyed the beautiful sunset overlooking the Cape Fear River. The room was simple and beautiful. The tables had white linens with burlap runners, topped with a tree stump and springs of lavender in vintage vases. So adorable. They rented extra tables, chairs and linens from Etc. Party Rentals to do a total seating for 105! The guest party favor was the drinking glass at each place setting, each different from the one next to it. The final touch was a circular doily with a bundle of thyme tied in twine in the center, sided with a wooden fork and knife. They also rented Edison lights from The Audio Visual People, which topped off the complete look of the room.

Kristen had a great vision for her big day! She used an old dresser to display chalkboard signs of info and an old window frame to tell each guest their table assignment. The guestbook was just as adorable, made out of wood from Etsy. The bouquets were bundles of wheat for the bridesmaids and Kristen's bouquet had dried lavender and wheat, also order from Etsy. Ovella is a family friend of the couple and helped coordinate the whole day! She was really sweet and did a great job bringing all of the details together! Everything just look so simple, yet very well planned!

After dinner, Ed and Kristen shared their first dance to "At Last" by Etta James. Then, Kristen danced with her father to "Unforgettable" by Natalie and Nat King Cole. Ed danced with his mother to "The Circle Game" by Joni Mitchell. After the formal dances, DJ Doug of DJ Professionals & Video got everyone on the dance floor for some classic dancin' tunes. Theo Milo is a great wedding photographer in Wilmington and he would have been the photographer today but he's in the bridal party instead. Theo has his associate photographer of The Story Creative shooting the big day!

We ended the evening in style with a sparkler send-off at 9:45pm! Ed and Kristen ran through the sparklers, kissing, laughing, loving and surrounded by all of their loved ones. What an amazing evening. Thank you to everyone who attended and congratulations to the two of you!! Enjoy your honeymoon!

Our lovely bride and bridesmaids!

Kinds words from Willa, mother of the bride!
"Thank you for making the wedding such a great success. I highly recommend the venue not because it is a great location, but because you are so thoughtful, calm, efficient, confident and bring such a warmness to the planning and the event. Thank you again so much!"
