Guest Writer: 2015 Wedding Trends

A new year calls for innovation and the spark of new ideas circling the wedding scene. As most of you know how weddings go, there is always a cake cutting and feeding it to your new husband/wife. However, new trends are saying no to cakes and yes to ice cream bars, mini parfaits, and cupcakes. It's always classic to stick with tradition but 2015 trends are deciding to switch it up and have a different dessert at your wedding.

If you have decided to stick to the traditional route and decide a cake is a staple for your perfect dream wedding, there's a new kind of cake making it's appearance at events.  Have you ever experienced that dessert that was delicious, just too sweet?  Well here is your solution.  The "naked cake" is the new trend for wedding cake design.  It involves cutting out that extra icing on the outside and allowing guests to see the layers.  A much more calorie-friendly way to serve your guests that sweet treat they desire.

Another trend that is emerging at all kinds of weddings is video booths, Instead of writing a sweet message on a sign in book, some couples are renting a combined photo/video booth or using an iPad. DJ Professionals & Video offers a super fun photo/video book. A more inexpensive version is the use of an iPad to record a little video from their guests wishing them a good future together. It is a fun way to get a more personal touch to simply writing congrats! If you already have an iPad, it is also a cheap way for you to get personal messages from your friends and family on your special day.

A trend that seems to be done at every wedding in 2015 is DIY projects. Whether you create your own centerpiece, name tags, or fun props, it's a great way to get involved and save money. There are tons of fun ways you can use your creativity in your special day. It ends up looking wonderful and saves you a lot of money, which is a great added bonus!

We all have a loved one who we would do anything to be at our big day, but unfortunately heaven is just too far away.  Recently, couples have been finding unique ways to still include that important family member or friend who has passed away.  It's a unique tribute and something special for the bride, groom and most likely even some of the guests.  It's a way to celebrate your big day while honoring the ones who made your life special.

Speaking of the ones we love at our weddings, you want a guest book with their signature, right?  That's been a wedding tradition as old as time.  Yet, couples are tossing those ugly guest books and putting a creative edge on the way they remember who was present on their big day.  Some couples use jenga blocks for guests to sign, signing globes with names, some have them sign Polaroid selfies, sometimes guests sign wooden letters of the couples name, either way the guest book phenomenon has taken off.  The limits of creative guest book ideas doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon!
