Fifty years of marriage were celebrated this evening as many of Ken and Roberta’s close friends and family gathered at The RiverRoom. The room was decorated in a navy and coral nautical theme, based on the six years when the couple lived on a sailboat. Beautiful linens from Etc. Party Rentals helped set the look of the room and the edison lights, provided by The Audio Visual People, created the perfect lighting.
The party, hosted by the Ken and Roberta’s son and daughter-in-law, started with “mocktails” that corresponded with the theme of the evening (“Shark Attack”, “Caribbean Sunset”, etc.). Following drinks, the couple’s son greeted the guests with a slideshow and video montage of memories from the past 50 years. It was lovely being able to see where their love started and the journey they’ve been on!
A delicious catered dinner from Saw Mill was served and was followed by a gorgeous cake, created by the bakery at Wal-Mart. Coffee was served after dinner, as guests had the opportunity to give a toast or “roast” to the couple. Everyone had such good things to say about this couple’s dedication to each other and their faith, which they credit for getting them to 50 years of marriage.
It was a sweet evening, filled with reminiscing on beloved memories and making new ones. Congratulations, Ken and Roberta! Thank you for making The RiverRoom a part of this lovely celebration!
