David and Sarah brought in all their own bar drinks, including all North Carolina beers such as Mother Earth and Natty Green. I love seeing some of North Carolina's best breweries represented! Middle of the Island served up a delicious buffet and seasonal fruit and cheese as appetizers.
For about 100 guests, Sarah and David decided on a cocktail style reception. They used the seating for 50 that The RiverRoom provides and then rented 6 additional cocktail tables to make a total of 8. This worked very well because guests had the option of sitting or standing and we split up the seating areas so all seated guests were not together.
DJ Doug with DJ Professionals got the party going right from the start. Sarah and David's first dance was "Lucky" by Jason Marz. Then, David danced with his mother to "My Wish" by Rascall Flats.
Instead of traditional party favors, Sarah and David opted to have the money they would have spent on favors donated to a local charity, The Miracle League of Wilmington. The non-profit organization's goal is to not only provide an opportunity for those who have not yet had the chance to experience the power of play and the joy of sports but to also show the importance of inclusion within the community.
The couple ended the evening with a send off down Water Street. Congratulations to Sarah and David Hoxie! We are so happy for the two of you. Thank you for allowing all of us to be part of your very special day!
