On Thursday, September 19, 2013, The RiverRoom helped kick off a big weekend for Wilmington with the Meet and Greet Mixer for the Cape Fear Classic. For those of you who don't listen to the radio or get out much (just kidding lovely readers), the Cape Fear Classic is a big benefit football game at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, NC on this upcoming Saturday. The Cape Fear Classic Foundation provides college scholarships to local youth so we love helping support the great foundation!
Antiba Johnson is the host of this fabulous weekend full of events. Tonight is the kick off party/mixer for sponsors, tomorrow is the golf tournament and step show, while Saturday is the Cape Fear Classic football game. The Cape Fear Classic Football Game features a game between the Shaw University Bears and the UNC-Pembroke Braves. Tailgating begins at 9:30am and the game is at 1:00pm. Our mixer started at 6:00pm this evening. Lynne with LJ Design Studio decorated the room! It looked great with burgundy linens and gold overlays on the bistro tables from Etc. Party Rentals. She did the flowers and brought in some furniture for a lounge area.
Jamaica's Comfort Zone catered the event, serving some delicious chicken salad croissants, jerk chicken wings, black beans and rice & more. Nothing like Jamaican chicken salad!
RA Jeffrey donated beer and wine for the sponsors to sip on. We had about 50 people come in and out between 6:00pm and 9:00pm. We hope you all have a great time on Saturday at the game! We look forward to turning this into an annual event!
