On Monday evening, August 5, 2013, author and local activist, Daawud El-Amin, hosted a book signing for his book No Covers Volume 1: The Black Males. It was also his birthday so happy birthday!
El-Amin's passion is helping young Aftrican American folks stay in school and out of trouble in our area. He has even been known to go door-to-door to talk to families. We had a great turnout for the event with nearly 100 people coming out to support El-Amin. Admisson was $10, which sent a copy of the book to inmates in correctional institutions. The book could also be purchased for $5 and he stayed after to sign the book.
El-Amin spent some time speaking to the audience about what he does and how they can get involved. He was very inspiring! It was our pleasure to be part of such an impactful group of people! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors, Daawud!
