And on a April Tuesday... "Two families became One"

The afternoon of April 30th was one filled with young love, scrabble letters, a long distance Skype call, and 180 overseas internet viewers as Maggie and Josh tied the knot here at The RiverRoom. When Maggie and Josh walked into The RiverRoom with Maggie's parents in the beginning of March and informed us that this was their perfect venue to say their "I Do's," we were SO excited!

Here comes our blushing bride!
Now the story behind these two could not be more romantic and is well worth sharing. The day they walked in, they began to tell us how an American sweetheart met and fell in love with a charming British boy from Israel. Maggie was traveling around the world with her family, and by fate, they just happened to land in the same place as her husband, Josh. We had the pleasure of talking to the Groom's mother who explained that she is from France and married Josh's British father and are now residing in Israel. (She told us that this is truly "two families becoming one" as parents of the bride and the groom are close friends!) When Maggie came back to the States, Josh would follow her just 18 months later. As we listened to the speeches from their families, there was nothing less of an incredible love that filled the room. They shared stories of the feats and obstacles that the couple's love not only endured, but rose above and flourished. From the endless lonely nights, the long Skype dates, the terrible foreign WiFi, and memories of Josh walking 10 miles in Israel to see Maggie, they have written their own love story for the books. Now both stateside, we are so lucky that the gorgeous beaches, Cape Fear River, and historic charm of Wilmington captured their hearts as they chose to call our amazing city their home. Wilmington welcomes you and your families with open arms, and we, here at The RiverRoom, are so happy to have had a part in your beautiful journey!

The theme of this wedding was everything and anything literature, words, and Nicholas Sparks! They had scrabble letters on the table, which was a fun addition that kept the guests occupied as final touches were done on the food and the bridal party finished up their pictures after the brief indoor ceremony. This gorgeous rustic wedding was decorated by Etc. Party Rentals in grey and purple. They had books as centerpieces and accents throughout the room. Old book pages held the bird seed for their send off. Every detail of this adorable, small ceremony and reception was so elegantly put together and we adored it!

The food was catered by family friends, which seems only appropriate to add to this amazing atmosphere that this family creates! The guests enjoyed various vegetables & fruits, Italian meatballs, chicken tortellini, and salad! They chose Coastal Cupcakes to do make the cupcakes, and the "top" of a wedding cake, which had an adorable book cake topper. Fun fact: Maggie works for Coastal Cupcakes!

Lucky for the Maggie and Josh, Maggie's aunt is a professional wedding photographer in Arizona. She flew in to capture the big day for them! We can't wait to see more of her images too! Thanks Brooke Photography for this awesome shot taken on Wrightsville Beach after their wedding reception.
It may have just been a regular Tuesday afternoon for most people, but to the new Mr. & Mrs. Blackham, it was the best day of their lives. No longer do the oceans, countries, continents or time zones separate them as they are finally husband and wife and can live TOGETHER in a beautiful newly wed bliss! Congrats to you both from all of us at The RiverRoom! We wish you nothing but happiness in the years to come!
