"There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
No song that I could sing, but I can try for your heart
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things
Like a, shoebox of photographs
With sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer,
At least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
Sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together"
As Jack Johnson sings, Laural and Micah are better together. We are celebrating the newlyweds today at The RiverRoom. After a 3:00pm wedding ceremony at the Arboretum, guest drove downtown for the wedding reception. They reserved the Icehouse Lot from Park Rite to simplify parking. Cocktail hour began with good tunes, good food, good drink and good people. (Special thanks to Middle of the Island for catering and DJ Professionals for spinning the tunes).
The room looked especially beautiful with crushed romance linens from Connie Duglin. These krinkled lavendar purple linens were special ordered through Rent-A-Tent, who also provided extra tables and chairs to have overall seating for 84 guest. Each table was complete with a centerpiece made of river rocks and flowers in a vase with water and a floating candle. I, Melissa, was hired as their day-of coordinator so they dropped off all of their decorations in the morning and I've been busy all day setting up. It's been a lot of fun to plan with them throughout the year and then see it all come together.
The newlyweds arrived in a horse and carriage and all of the wedding guest were outside along the banister to greet the happy couple! Laural looked so stunning. I know we say this about all of our brides but she really did take my breath away! As Micah escorted his bride out of the horse and carriage, guest were asked to go back inside so we could introduce the new Mr. and Mrs. Bacon into the reception area. Their first dance was to "Better Together" by Jack Johnson, of course!
We all filled up on good cookin' from Middle of the Island. After dinner, it was back to dancing with the father/daughter dance and then the mother/son dance. I love it when we do the good luck dance too! It's a great way to get people up and moving around! All of this caught on camera by Eric Motz Photography!
Later in the evening, it was time to "cut the cupcake". We enjoyed a variety of cupcakes from Coastal Cupcakes! They were naughty and smashed a cupcake in each other's face! Can't wait to see a picture of that! :) Then, the maid of honor and best man gave really sweet and funny toast to Laural and Micah. Now, back to dancing!
They thought of the most thoughtful and "green" party favor. The favors were wild flower seeds that you plant in soil and beautiful wildflowers will grow. I can't wait to plant mine! The guest book was really cute too. They purchased a printed canvas with a tree branches and each guest was asked to stamp their fingerprint and put their initials by it.
My favorite part of the evening was when Micah sang karaoke to Laural. OMG- too cute! And who knew he could rap?!

As the night came to a close, we sent off the bride and groom in style with sparklers! We would like to wish Laural and Micah many, many years of love and happiness. We are so happy for you both and look forward to see where your future leads!
