TRENDSPOTTER: 2013 Weddings

The 2013 Wedding Season is gearing up and we'd like to share some of our favorite anticipated trends. The most important thing to keep in mind while planning your wedding is making sure it fits for YOU and YOURS. There's no need to choose a wedding theme because it's "trendy" if it's not what suits your personality at the end of the day. But, it doesn't hurt to see what's new and happening in the "wedding world". You just may see something you love and wouldn't have thought of otherwise!

The RiverRoom is such a gorgeous venue and we are blessed to have such a beautiful location along the Cape Fear River. The JW Brooks Building has a lot of historic charm with a rustic feel. The view is the big picture...all of the other decorations are secondary to the nature that has been put before us.

Here are some trends that we think would be PERFECT for your next RiverRoom wedding!

1. Pick a color theme based on your venue.
WeddingWire suggest that the couple should choose a color theme with the venue in mind.
Yellow + Gray for a historic location
"Remember, not only do you want your color scheme to set the vibe for your wedding but also complement the venue."

2. The Pantone Color of 2013 is emerald green and we love it!
We can't wait to see lots of emerald green this year. Great accent colors are navy blue, gold and white!

3. Handmade wooden centerpieces and decor are really hip this season. We love these woodsy, rustic touches!

4. Find a non-traditional guestbook.

Your guestbook shouldn't sit on a bookshelf getting dusty. You want your guestbook to remind you of all of the people that came together to celebrate your true love. It should be something that you can see or use in your every day life. Here are some of my favorite guest book ideas.
-Have guests sign in a book about your honeymoon spot (great for the coffee table and a good way to learn a little bit before you go)
-Have guests sign around a framed picture from your engagement session
-Have guests put their thumb prints on a "tree of life" print

5. Make finding their seat fun.
A new, local company called Pressed Cotton makes these awesome United State Canvases perfect for your escort card display. Have guests find their seating assignment by selecting a flag from the state which they traveled from.

6. Instead of matchy-matchy tablescapes, try something different.
Heirloom Vintage China Hire is a local rental company of various china and tableware. The owners have spent many years collecting mismatched plate settings. From plates and tea cups to silverware and much more, you have the chance to rent from their collection.

7. Buy your wedding dress locally.
Wilmington has many amazing bridal shops, including Wilmington's oldest, Fontaine Bridals. This 2013 Alva Collection dress just came into the shop and it's absolutely gorgeous! You may also want to check out The Wedding Dress Shoppe, Wilmington's newest bridal boutique.

8. Take time with your man to create a handmade wedding sign.
You can make one point to the wedding ceremony on the deck and one pointing to the reception at The RiverRoom!

9. Go Green.
Almost 70% of brides went green in 2012 and even more are expected to turn to eco-friendly ways in 2013. Using moss picked around your home is a great way to go green!

10. Choose a print for your bridesmaid dresses!
Your bridesmaids can even mix and match in a your color scheme.

11. Peacock something!
From Ruffled Blog
Peacock themes are heavily trending right now but instead of using peacock colors, this bride incorporated the actual bird! Pretty cool!
