Ashley and Tony's big wedding day at The RiverRoom

Saturday, September 29, 2012 is finally here! Ashley Marcoux became Mr. Antonio Lewis as she married the man of her dreams on The RiverRoom waterfront deck. The beautiful couple married at 4:30pm. The deck was decorated beautifully with a bamboo arbor from Sweetwater Bamboo Beach Wedding Events. Cindy with Sweetwater Bamboo also created some burlap window covers and provided some paradise palms to top off the finished look. Ashley's eggplant purple aisle runner tied into her eggplant and green color theme. They also served lemonade, sweet tea and a cookie assortment for guests to enjoy before the ceremony. The wedding ceremony was short and sweet! Guests then entered The RiverRoom to begin cocktail hour from 5:00-6:00pm. At that time, Ray Baca, one of our lovely owners and photographer at Baca Photography, took the bridal party and their family out for pictures around some of the unique alleyways and waterfront views in Downtown Wilmington.

Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were introduced as husband and wife! Ashley and Tony had their first dance to "Love is a Verb" by John Mayer. I absolutely love love love John Mayer. Ashley and I had many things in common, one being out love for John Mayer :). The night was filled lots of dancing and lots of happy guest. Thanks to David with DJ Professionals for getting the party going. There's nothing better than a room full of happy people dancing!

Dinner was a buffet style from Middle of the Island Catering. They served marinated chicken and roast beef with mac & cheese, scallop potatoes, green beans, rice, squash casserole and three different salads! It was delicious as always! The three tiered cake was absolutely gorgeous! It was designed by Flower & Flour. Not only did they created a delicious cake but they also made individually wrapped macaroons as party favors for each guests. This was my first experience with this cake artist and it was great. The guys were so nice and they do fabulous work. Thanks Bryan!

The escort cards to assist guests in finding their table were handmade with fresh green apples and paper leaves with the names written on them. Instead of a traditional guestbook, Ashley used one of the beautiful engagement photographs from Baca Photography and put it in a nice frame for guests to sign around the white border. Ashley also wanted to drape eggplant fabric across the bar with tap lights. There was a disposable camera on each table to encourage guests to photograph their own favorite moments.

Moxie Floral Studio did some of the best work I've seen to date! Ashley was very hands on and created a lot of the decor herself. One of the things she made were the wire centerpieces that she wrapped and then the ladies at Moxie Floral added their special touch. They attached flowers to the wire balls and added candles to make the look complete!

I was hired by Ashley to do Day of Coordination. This wedding was especially fun because Ashley thought of all the little details and had big plans for everything. Her one request was that she wanted it to not look like a "typical wedding"...more of a fun party and that it was! We hung white lanterns from the ceiling and even a "grape" bundle over the dance floor. She also wanted candles everywhere! The room was dimly lit and we even passed out glow sticks later in the evening. Day of Coordination is a way for the bride and her family and friends to not have to set up on their big day. Instead, they drop off the decorations in the morning and I take it from there! If any of my bride readers are interested in this service, please contact me.

The day wouldn't have been complete without a proper send off. The couple went off in style through two rows of bubbles. We really enjoyed getting to know you both. We couldn't be more happy and excited about the future you are about to take on. We wish you all the love and happiness! Congratulations!

  1. We enjoyed working with Ashley on her wedding ceremony designs. I had so much fun setting up the ceremony space.
